Roberts To Replace Hernandez: Predicted 4-1-4-1 Leeds United Lineup vs Cardiff City

Leeds United return to Championship action this Sunday when they travel to Wales to face Cardiff City.

The Whites are currently level on points with West Brom, but have a game in hand and could retake a three-point lead if they beat Cardiff. Leeds will also be buoyed by the fact that they can move 10 points clear of third-placed Fulham, who dropped points earlier today.

Before the league was paused, Marcelo Bielsa’s men were in fine form, as they were undefeated in 6, had won their previous 5 league games.

In the reverse fixture earlier in the season, Leeds let go of a three-goal lead, allowing the Welsh side to come back and get away with a point.

Leeds United Team News

Leeds United will not have the services of four players for the game against Cardiff City. Goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is serving a suspension for racism, while Pablo Hernandez, Adam Forshaw and January signing Jean-Kevin Augustin will miss out due to injury.

Let’s take a look at the possible Leeds United team for the game against Cardiff City:

Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Cardiff City

Goalkeeper

Casilla’s absence means that 20-year-old Illan Meslier will make his third league start for the Whites.

Defence

Defender Gaetano Berardi could drop to the bench with Liam Cooper and Ben White playing in central defence.

Luke Ayling should play at right-back; he scored in each of his last two games. The versatile Stuart Dallas is likely to play in the left-back position in the Leeds United lineup ahead of Ezgjan Alioski and Barry Douglas.

Midfield

Kalvin Phillips missed the last game against Huddersfield due to injury, but he is fit and should start against Cardiff City.

Mateusz Klich should start ahead of him in central midfield. Hernandez’s injury is a big blow to Leeds as he has been superb for Leeds this season. He will be replaced by Tyler Roberts in the attacking midfield role in the Leeds United lineup.

Jamie Shackleton is an option for Bielsa in the central midfield position.

Attack

There won’t be a change in the front three with Helder Costa and Jack Harrison starting on the right flank and left flank respectively, while Patrick Bamford will play upfront. Ian Poveda is an option out wide.
