Real Betis attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir could be on his way out of the club in the summer, and Arsenal are reportedly one of the many clubs interested in the Frenchman.
Fekir joined the Spanish side last summer, and has had a solid first season with the club.
According to Marca, Fekir has told the club that he is keen on staying put next season, and will only leave if a “title-challenging team” makes an approach for him.
The report claims that Betis will be forced to sell him only if the two Spanish giants, Real Madrid or Barcelona, make a bid for him, or if Betis are in a tough financial position due to the pandemic.
Apart from Arsenal, Newcastle United and AC Milan are also rumoured to be interested in the 26-year-old. In the current season, Fekir has scored 7 goals and made 6 assists for Betis in 22 La Liga games.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will have to make several additions to his team in the summer, especially in defence, while a few additions in attack could bolster their squad.
Fekir could be a very good addition to an Arsenal squad that has lacked depth in the creative areas. Mesut Ozil, the Gunners’ main creative player, has blown hot and cold this season, while injuries have reduced the squad strength as well.
The Frenchman is a player with quick feet, a quicker mind, and the determination to take on defenders and beat them with skills and tricks. Fekir possesses a great left foot, scoring plenty of goals from inside and outside the box, as well as setting up his teammates.
The 26-year-old can play in multiple positions – as a No. 10 behind the striker, in wide areas, and can also play as a midfielder in a midfield three.
Fekir is an all-round player who can dribble, assist, score, and even contributes to the team defensively. The French international could fit in very well as the No. 10 in the current Arsenal side, and would offer a lot more than Ozil in that position as he is a lot more mobile than the German.
