Chelsea Are Looking To Sign This Flair Player From The Eredivisie: How Will He Fit In?

Premier League side Chelsea are reportedly one of the many clubs tracking Orkun Kokcu, who currently plays for Dutch side, Feyenoord.

The 19-year-old is an attacking midfielder who has impressed for Feyenoord this season, and has subsequently attracted interest from several sides in Europe.

As per The Sun, Chelsea are interested in signing the teenager, as are London rivals Arsenal.

The likes of Roma, Real Betis, Atalanta and Sevilla are also keeping a close eye on the Dutch-born attacking midfielder. The report says that the Dutch club offered a long-term deal that was rejected by the player.

Kokcu debuted for Feyenoord’s senior team in 2018 as a 17-year-old after coming through their academy. The teenager made 35 appearances for the Dutch side in all competitions in the 2019-20 season.

Orkun Kokcu – How will he fit in at Chelsea?

Orkun Kokcu is primarily an attacking midfielder, but played as a midfielder for Feyenoord in the 2019-20 season as part of a midfield three.

The Turkish Under-21 international has flair in abundance with good dribbling skills, as well as great vision to pick out teammates with his passing. A good crosser and passer, Kokcu likes to move into wide areas to put in crosses, or drive through the middle and thread a pass to the striker.

What is impressive about Kokcu is his ability to pass with both feet, as well as take shots from distance.

He is a clever player who averaged 1.4 key passes per game in the Eredivisie in the 2019-20 season, while playing an average of 3 aerial balls per game. He also likes to take shots on goal, averaging 1.8 shots per game from midfield.

Kokcu could fit into Chelsea manager Frank Lampard’s system, either as a central midfielder or further forward as an attacking midfielder. He could be yet another young player who could get chances under the Chelsea legend at Stamford Bridge.

While he may not be afforded many starts considering the talented midfielders in the Chelsea squad, Kokcu could be a useful player from the bench, perhaps one who could compete with Mason Mount for a place in the Chelsea lineup.

Kokcu is one for the future and the Blues should sign him before one of their rivals do. Although they have signed several young players with potential in the past, only to send them out on loan, Kokcu seems like an impressive player and would do well under Lampard’s regime.
