Jurgen Klopp Explains Why Liverpool Will Have The Advantage Against Atletico Madrid

Liverpool will host Atletico Madrid at Anfield in the second leg of the round of 16 Champions League tie, and Jürgen Klopp believes the home advantage will count again.

The Merseyside outfit are yet to lose a two-legged Champions League tie under Klopp, and will have to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Diego Simeone’s side.

Although a one-goal advantage at the moment doesn’t seem like much, Atletico’s style of play is likely to make it difficult for Liverpool to break down their opponents.

Klopp knows that his side will be up against a sturdy defensive outfit, but feels that not many Atletico Madrid players have played at Anfield and that might have an impact on the away team’s performance levels.

The German has said that the atmosphere can inspire the home team once again come Wednesday, “Our crowd will be our advantage and we have to use it with the performance on the pitch.

“It has to be exceptional because they defend deep and have counter-attack threat. Each player can be dangerous. Set-pieces, an experienced team. They know how to deal with it all.

“But not a lot of them (Atletico) have played at Anfield before and that is what we want to use,” Klopp said in a press conference.

The Reds will have captain Jordan Henderson back for the clash, but Alisson Becker has been ruled out of the game, so Adrian will once again line up in goal for Liverpool.
