Manchester United can have their target for £45m: Should they make a summer move?

Manchester United are keen on signing Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish in the summer, it has been reported.

The English attacker has been in splendid form for the Lions, and there’s been speculation that he may leave the club in the summer.

As per Daily Mail, Grealish has a release clause of £45 million that can be activated by sides in the summer transfer window. His current deal with Villa expires in 2023, but if he keeps up his good form, he could leave a lot earlier.

Grealish has come through the ranks at Aston Villa, and made his senior debut in 2014. The Englishman helped the side return to the Premier League, playing a starring role in their promotion, and has continued his good form in the Premier League.

Should Manchester United make a move in the summer?

Manchester United have to strengthen their attack and bring in creative players in the summer. Grealish and another young English midfielder, James Maddison, have been closely linked with a move to Manchester United. But with Maddison reportedly close to signing a new deal, United have to turn their attention towards Grealish.

The 24-year-old has scored 9 goals and made 7 assists in 27 games, in a struggling Aston Villa side who are currently one point above the relegation zone.

Grealish could be a good addition to the Manchester United squad that has lacked depth in midfield and wide areas. A player with good dribbling ability, vision, as well as passing and crossing, the Villa is exactly what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to bring to United.

He can play in a midfield three and would be a better option than the likes of Andreas Pereira or Jesse Lingard in the No. 10 position, while he could also do a job out wide on the left side, cutting into the central areas.

Signing him would give Solskjaer plenty of options with the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, and January signing Bruno Fernandes all vying for the three midfield roles.

Considering his versatility, Grealish can also provide competition to Marcus Rashford or Daniel James on the left side of attack.

Grealish has proven that he is good enough to play in the Premier League, and a player of his calibre and ability would do well at Manchester United.
