6 Changes Expected: 4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Wolves

Manchester United had a disappointing start to 2020 as they lost to Arsenal in the Premier League after putting in a dispirited performance at the Emirates. The Red Devils now turn their attention to the FA Cup this weekend as they face Wolves in the third round of the cup on Saturday.

United haven’t won any of their last four games against Wolves spanning a couple of competitions, drawing two and losing two. They were, in fact, dumped by Wolves in the quarter-final of the FA Cup last season at Molineux. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team could only draw their last game against Wolves earlier this season in the Premier League.

Let’s take a look at the possible Manchester United team for the FA Cup game against Wolves.

Team News

Paul Pogba is yet again injured and he will miss 3-4 weeks, as per manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He joins Scott McTominay, Axel Tuanzebe, Eric Bailly, and Timothy Fosu-Mensah on the sidelines.

Marcos Rojo has reportedly been given time off to prepare for a likely exit in January.

PREDICTED MANCHESTER UNITED TEAM vs WOLVES (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper

Sergio Romero has been Manchester United’s cup goalkeeper, and he will return to the starting XI in place of David de Gea.

Defence

We could see Solskjaer stick to his four-man defence despite Wolves playing a three-man backline that could cause trouble for United.

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof should start at the heart of the defence as the only other fit option that the United manager has is error-prone Phil Jones.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be handed a breather with Ashley Young taking his place in the Manchester United team. Brandon Williams is expected to be recalled at the expense of Luke Shaw.

Midfield

United have a dearth of central midfielders following the injuries to Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.

Nemanja Matic and Fred started against Arsenal and they should continue in the Manchester United team in the middle of the park.

Andreas Pereira could be handed a start in the no.10 role after a dismal display by Jesse Lingard, who was sent home early from training along with Anthony Martial, possibly due to a bout of flu.

Attack

Marcus Rashford should continue in his role on the left-flank while Juan Mata will hope for an opportunity to start the game, most likely on the right.

Mason Greenwood will start and could be asked to lead the Manchester United team.
