Big Guns To Return | Leeds United Lineup vs Sheffield Wednesday

Leeds United were knocked out of the FA Cup by Arsenal on Monday, but manager Marcelo Bielsa will be happy with the way his team played, bossing a large part of the game against a Premier League side.

The Whites will not shift their focus once again to the Championship, where they lead the table, and will hope to keep it that way when they face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Bielsa’s side have not been getting wins on a consistent in the league recently, as they have won just one of their last five league games.

The Whites are the favourites heading into this weekend’s game at Elland Road against Sheffield Wednesday, as the visitors have lost their last three league games on the spin, and are in a poor run of form.

Leeds United Team News

Pablo Hernandez and Adam Forshaw will likely miss the clash against Wednesday. Tyler Roberts and Jamie Shackleton have been training, but they may need to develop some match fitness before they are considered for the Leeds United lineup.

Luke Ayling is a doubt as well, having been replaced in the game against Arsenal and was limping as he came off.

Let’s take a look at the possible Leeds United lineup for the game against Sheffield Wednesday:

Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Sheffield Wednesday

Goalkeeper

Kiko Casilla was benched for the FA Cup game with youngster Illan Meslier taking his place. But Casilla should return to the Leeds United team for the league game.

Defence

Captain Liam Cooper was also rested for the FA Cup game, with Gaetano Berardi taking his place. Cooper should return to the Leeds United lineup, playing alongside Ben White in the centre of defence.

If Ayling is fit, he should continue at right-back in the Leeds lineup, else Stuart Dallas could move to the right-back slot.

Ezgjan Alioski played further forward as a wide player against Arsenal, but he should return to the left-back position for Saturday’s game.

Midfield

Kalvin Phillips had a superb game against Arsenal, and he should start in the base of midfield, with Mateusz Klich ahead of him.

Dallas should continue in midfield if Ayling is fit, otherwise Bielsa could revert to a back three with Alioski and Dallas playing alongside Phillips.

Attack

There may not be much change to the attack with Patrick Bamford starting as the main striker and Jack Harrison and Helder Costa playing on the left and right, respectively.
