Leeds United Eyeing A Swoop For Premier League Striker: The Forward They Need?

Leeds United could make a move for Watford striker Andre Gray in the January transfer window to bolster their attack for the rest of the 2019-20 season.

Gray has been with the Premier League side since 2017, having moved from Burnley, but hasn’t featured much for the Hornets.

As per journalist Phil Hay, the Whites have spoken to Watford over a deal to take the Englishman in the January transfer window.

Football Insider had reported that the Hornets want a £2million loan fee while they also want the Whites to pay the entire £80,000 wages. Watford were reportedly not willing to allow Gray to leave earlier, but are now open to letting him move.

Gray has made 18 appearances in the league so far, scoring two goals, both in the Premier League. He has made 88 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals in all competitions.

Andre Gray – The forward Leeds United need?

Leeds United have lost two games on the bounce in the Championship which has resulted in Fulham – who are in the third position – closing the gap on second-placed Leeds.

The Whites have dominated games, but have also been lacklustre in front of goal as they have struggled to finish off moves.

Striker Patrick Bamford has not been consistent, and the end of Eddie Nketiah’s loan spell at the club means that Marcelo Bielsa has no other strikers to call upon.

Andre Gray has a lot of experience playing in the Championship, having played for Brentford and Burnley in the Championship, and scoring tons of goal.

He is quick and likes to play close to the opposition’s goal. Gray’s aggressive pressing, movement in the final third, and neat finishing would go well with Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds team.

The Englishman is often in the right place at the right time and finishes well, and could offer strong competition to Bamford in attack.

A loan move to bring Gray to the Championship side could be a good decision as he has the energy and goal-scoring attributes to become a good signing for Bielsa. Leeds need to bring in a striker in the transfer window, and they need to do so quickly to get them back on track to gain promotion to the Premier League.
