West Ham United Looking To Sign 17-Goal Wing-Wizard: A Good Fit For The Club?

West Ham United are keen on signing in-form attacker Jarrod Bowen from Championship side Hull City, as per reports.

The 23-year-old winger joined the Tigers in 2014, and has been in terrific form over the last three seasons. As per The Sun, the Hammers would like to sign Bowen in the January transfer window for a fee of around £15 million.

The English winger’s contract with Hull City expires in the summer, but the Tigers have the option to extend his contract by a year, as per Transfermarkt. The Hammers face competition from the likes of Newcastle United for his signature.

Bowen was signed by Hull City on a free transfer in 2014, and has gone on to make over 120 appearances for the Tigers, scoring 54 goals and managing 12 assists.

So far this season, Bowen has scored 17 goals in all competitions, and is on course to eclipse his 22-goal tally from last season.

Would Jarrod Bowen be a good fit for West Ham United?

Bowen has really impressed this season yet again, continuing where he left off from the 2018-19 season.

The left-footed winger is a very good finisher, who gets into good areas in the box, and takes his chances whenever given the opportunity. The 23-year-old usually plays on the right side of attack, cutting inside into central areas and taking a shot on goal.

He is a player who likes to take on defences, and is your archetypal inverted winger. The hard-working winger contributes offensively and defensively, tracking back to help his defence.

Bowen averages 3.8 shots per goal, and 2 dribbles per game this season in the Championship. His contribution in the defensive side of the game means that he averages 1.1 tackles per game this season.

The Hammers could use a goal-scorer like him in their ranks as they have scored just 19 goals from 17 league games this season.

Striker Sebastien Haller is the top scorer this season for the Hammers with 5 goals, which shows the need for them to sign a player who can score more.

The London side have quite a few options on the right side of attack, with the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko, Michail Antonio, and Robert Snodgrass capable of playing there, but none of the three have been consistent this season.

At 23 years of age, Bowen could improve further and he would be a solid signing for them.
