2 Key Changes With Start For Pogba: 4-2-3-1 Man United Predicted Lineup vs Newcastle

Manchester United lost their fifth game of the Premier League season against bottom-placed Watford last weekend. The Red Devils slumped to 8th in the league, moving further away from Champions League spots.

Manchester United host Newcastle United at Old Trafford today, with both teams on 25 points after 18 games in the league.

The Magpies had defeated Manchester United earlier this season at St. James’ Park. Newcastle United could spring yet another surprise, having won three of their last four away games, while United have drawn four of their last six home games in the league.

Let’s take a look at the Manchester United lineup for the game against Newcastle United.

Team News

Marcos Rojo, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, and Eric Bailly will all miss the game, while Diogo Dalot could perhaps get back into the squad after being a part of the U19 team’s match last week.

Paul Pogba could finally be ready to start a game, in which case, he is expected to be an automatic pick.

PREDICTED MANCHESTER UNITED LINEUP vs NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper

David de Gea made a horrendous error last time around against Watford, but he should keep his place in the Manchester United lineup.

Defence

We could see the usual pairing of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at the heart of the defence, while both Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will keep their places at left-back and right-back, respectively.

Ashley Young could be an option though, over the festive period.

Midfield

Scott McTominay and Fred could continue in the middle of the park, but Nemanja Matic could be another option for the Red Devils in the upcoming fixtures.

Paul Pogba will most likely return to the Manchester United lineup, having made a big impact after coming on against Watford. The Frenchman could replace Jesse Lingard, playing as the No. 10 in this creatively starved United side.

Attack

Anthony Martial was not at his best last time around, but he could continue as the main striker for United. Marcus Rashford could retain his place on the left as well.

Mason Greenwood could come into the side in place of Daniel James on the right side of attack. James has struggled against teams that sit deep, which could be the tactic employed by Newcastle.
