Wijnaldum To Return | 4-3-3 Predicted Liverpool Lineup vs Red Bull Salzburg

The draw against Napoli at Anfield has left the reigning Champions of Europe Liverpool in search of a point to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition in their last group stage game against Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday.

The Austrian side have lost just one of their last 73 home games, but that came against Napoli earlier in the same competition this year.

Liverpool ran out 4-3 winners when Salzburg came to Anfield, and they could be demoted into the Europa League if they fail to take even a point from this game.

Liverpool are fresh from a comfortable win against Bournemouth, but have lost four of their last five Champions League group stage games away from home.

Here is the team news and predicted lineup for Jurgen Klopp might field for this crunch tie:

Liverpool Team News

In early team news, Nathaniel Clyne, Fabinho and Joel Matip are still nursing injuries and have not made this trip to Austria. Georginio Wijnaldum and Dejan Lovren have travelled for this tie.

Predicted Liverpool Lineup vs Salzburg

Defence

Alisson Becker kept his first clean sheet of the season in all competition against Bournemouth this past weekend. Liverpool will need him to do a similar job in this game as well.

Lovren is back in training and should keep his place alongside Virgil van Dijk, both of who will want to keep the in-form Erling Braut Haaland away from Alisson’s goal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson are almost undroppable for crunch games. Neither played the full-90 at Dean Court and should be fresh from this clash.

Midfield

Klopp has a lot of options for his midfield against Salzburg. Skipper Jordan Henderson played the full game against The Cherries but will have to start another game this week, especially in the absence of Fabinho.

Georginio Wijnaldum missed the trip to Bournemouth but is back fit and could start this game in the midfield.

Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain scored Liverpool’s first in the 3-0 win at the weekend and deserves to start this game alongside Wijnaldum in an attacking role.

Attack

Sadio Mane got some deserved rest at the weekend and will be up and running for this game. Klopp will not want to tinker with his best Liverpool lineup for a crucial game like this and should stick with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, all of who need to have a good game away from home.
