Arsenal are in the midst of a change as reports have suggested that former Gunners player Mikel Arteta could be appointed as their new manager.
Arteta could very well be in the dugout, or at least in the stands, when the North London side face Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
The Gunners endured a painful defeat to Manchester City last weekend in the Premier League, losing 3-0 at home, and slumping to 10th in the league table. The last time Arsenal faced Everton at Goodison Park, the Gunners lost narrowly.
Arsenal Team News
Granit Xhaka, who has missed the last two games, could return to the Gunners squad for the Everton game as he has nearly recovered from the head injury.
Fellow midfielder Dani Ceballos has returned to training, but the game against the Toffees will come too soon for him. Kieran Tierney will not be making the Arsenal lineup for a few months due to a dislocated shoulder.
Left-back Sead Kolasinac was brought off in the game against Manchester City due to an ankle injury, and we aren’t quite sure if he will be fit for this game. Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin are also doubts, while Sokratis is suspended.
Let’s take a look at the possible Arsenal lineup for the game against Everton:
Bernd Leno should start in goal for the Gunners against Everton. The German has been one of the few in-form Arsenal players, and is perhaps the first name in the Arsenal lineup.
Arsenal have a full-blown defensive crisis ahead of the game against Everton, with several defenders injured and suspended.
Sokratis’ suspension means that David Luiz could return to the side to partner Shkodran Mustafi at the back.
In the last game against City, Sokratis and Calum Chambers played in central defence, but Chambers may have to play at left-back due to the injuries to Tierney and Kolasinac. Ainsley Maitland-Niles could keep his place at right-back in the Arsenal lineup.
Granit Xhaka could come into the Arsenal team in place of Lucas Torreira, with Mattéo Guendouzi playing alongside him in midfield. Mesut Ozil should retain his attacking midfield role.
The front three of Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pépé and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while there is the option of Alexandre Lacazette as well for the Gunners. If Lacazette comes into the Arsenal lineup, he could maybe replace Martinelli.
