Liverpool’s star-studded squad leaves very little room for the addition of world-class players in the first team. So it does not come as a surprise that Jurgen Klopp continues to scout for potential superstars of the future.
One such player, they are extensively linked with is Brazilian youngster Evanilson.
As cited in the latest story from The Mirror, Liverpool have kept an eye on the youngster for quite a while now and could make a move for him in January.
Evanilson’s current deal with Fluminense expires in a couple of months, making him a handy option but what will he bring to England?
The 20-year old striker spent time in the academy at Fluminense before breaking into the first team just last season.
He was the top scorer in the U20 league in Brazil not so long ago and has slowly started to make a name in Serie A, showing some consistency.
Evanilson has two goals in one start and two substitute appearances in the top flight in his country and has shown enough potential for the likes of Liverpool to show an interest in his services.
Known for his calm and composed approach to the game, Evanilson hardly misses a chance in the final third and is a top-class finisher.
He is strong with his hold up play and has solid technique to dribble past opponents but it is his positional awareness and the dangerous positions he picks up in attack that makes him a quality striker.
He loves to play on the shoulder of the final defender, making runs for long balls but in build-up play, he is effective with his lay-offs and can create chances for his side.
At just 20, he has a lot of room for improvement and has all the makings to be a superstar under Jurgen Klopp.
Currently, Liverpool have Divock Origi taking up the back-up role to the front three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has shown that he can be effective from the wing but The Reds are a bit short of options in attack, that could affect their chances in the second half of the season.
The lack of opportunities for Rhian Brewster shows that Klopp does not trust him in his first team. The same story also claims that the English youngster could be sent out on loan this January, making Evanilson a serious contender for a place in the senior side.
He could cost just around €4m and has attributes that will excite Klopp. So signing Evanilson could be a game-changer for the club, not just this season, but for years to come.
