Changes In Midfield | Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Birmingham

Leeds United stumbled in their mid-week Boxing Day fixture as they could only manage a late draw against Preston North End.

The Whites face Birmingham City on Sunday and will hope to get a win, having been winless in their last three Championship games.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are three points behind leaders West Bromwich Albion, and 8 clear of third-placed Brentford in the Championship table.

Leeds United Team News

Pablo Hernandez and Adam Forshaw will miss the tie against Birmingham City due to injury.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa had revealed earlier this week that Jamie Shackleton and Tyler Roberts were available for selection, but neither of them made the Leeds squad for the draw against Preston. We could maybe see one or both added to the squad for the Birmingham game.

Let’s take a look at the possible Leeds United lineup for the game against Birmingham City.

Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Birmingham City

Goalkeeper

Kiko Casilla has been a regular in goal, and will keep his place against Birmingham City.

Defence

We could see the same back four of Liam Cooper, Ben White, Ezgjan Alioski and Luke Ayling for the game against Birmingham. White looked solid at the back, but captain Cooper was not at his best, which will be a worry for Leeds.

Gaetano Berardi is an option at centre-back, but Bielsa could stick to his tried and tested players.

But, if Bielsa introduces a different midfielder in place of Stuart Dallas, we could see him move to a full-back role.

Midfield

Kalvin Phillips should start in the base of midfield, while Mateusz Klich should start ahead of him.

We could most likely see one of Jamie Shackleton or Tyler Roberts make the Leeds United lineup at the expense of Dallas in midfield.

Attack

Patrick Bamford was not at his best against Preston but we are most likely going to see him start once again ahead of Eddie Nketiah – the latter being a second-half substitute in the Preston game.

Helder Costa and Jack Harrison should flank him on the right and left side, respectively.
