3 things to watch out for in Matchweek 15: Mourinho’s return and the Merseyside Derby

Matchweek 15 of the Premier League kicks off on Tuesday with Crystal Palace due to host Bournemouth at the Selhurst Park. It will be followed by some other appealing games, including Everton’s trip to Anfield and Manchester United’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Here are three things to look out for during the upcoming midweek fixtures in the Premier League.

Mourinho’s Return To The Old Trafford

Manchester United’s poor run of form continued as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Aston Villa at the weekend and impliedly, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under huge pressure as his side are 8 points behind Chelsea who are placed fourth in the table.

Tottenham Hotspur’s new manager Jose Mourinho will be desperate to inflict more damage on Solskjaer when his men take on the Red Devils at Old Trafford on Wednesday in what promises to be an exciting clash and a lot will be at stake.

It has almost been a year since the Portuguese manager was sacked by Manchester United, which is why he must be eager to silence his detractors who vehemently criticized him during his tenure at Manchester United and secure the bragging rights.

Arsenal’s Chance To End Their Woes

Freddie Ljungberg took over the interim responsibility of managing Arsenal after the north London outfit failed to register even a single win in seven games across all competitions under the tutelage of Unai Emery, owing to which the latter was recently sacked by the club.

However, there was no immediate upturn usually associated with a big change following the departure of Emery as the Gunners could only secure a draw against Norwich City on Sunday. Impliedly, Ljungberg has a lot of homework to do in the coming weeks to challenge for a top-four berth.

Arsenal will host Brighton & Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium in midweek and will enter the fixture as the favourites. It goes without saying that the game will be a good chance for Ljungberg’s side to clinch a win and get the fans behind them once again.

Do Or Die For Silva

Everton are languishing at the 17th spot in the standings after their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Leicester City on Sunday. The Toffees are just a couple of points above the relegation zone and the fans have already turned on the manager.

With Marco Silva’s job at the Goodison Park being under immense threat, there seems to be no room for respite for him as his troops have to battle against their arch-rivals Liverpool in the hostile environment of Anfield on Wednesday.

The upcoming fixture could be Silva’s last game as the manager of Everton if he fails to conjure an improbable win over the runaway title favourites. There is no denying that time is certainly running out for him and a loss against Jurgen Klopp’s side could be the final nail in the coffin.
