Tottenham Hotspur Linked With A Transfer For Dutch Ace: A Top Option For Mourinho

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on signing former Chelsea and current Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake.

The Dutch defender was previously managed by Mourinho, when he was the manager of Chelsea.

According to Football Insider, Ake is a target for Spurs, while Transfer Market Web have reported that both Manchester United and Manchester City are also interested in signing the 24-year-old.

The Dutch international has been in tremendous form since leaving Chelsea for Bournemouth in 2017 for around £20 million. His current deal with the Cherries expires in 2022, after he signed a five-year deal when he joined them in 2017.

Ake has made over 100 appearances for Bournemouth, scoring 10 goals and making 5 assists, while also playing for the Dutch national team, making a total of 13 appearances since his debut in 2017.

Is Nathan Ake a good option for Jose Mourinho?

Jose Mourinho will know all about Nathan Ake, having managed him in his second spell with Chelsea. Ake is a gifted defender who is technically good with the ball at this feet, while also being strong defensively.

The left-footed player can play at centre-back, left-back, or as a defensive midfielder, and is similar to current Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen.

The Dutchman likes to move ahead with the ball at his feet, while also showing good composure while passing from the back.

Quick to nip in and make interceptions, Ake averages 1.6 interceptions per game in the Premier League this season, while averaging 4.3 clearances per game.

A confident passer, Ake averages 45.9 passes per game with pass accuracy of 88.4%. He is a player who likes to move the ball ahead quickly with aerial balls, averaging 1.7 long balls per game.

The Dutchman could be a very good option for Spurs as two of their senior defenders – Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, are out of contract in the summer and could leave the club.

Ake is a talented player who can improve further and become a defensive leader at the back for Spurs. His prior Premier League experience will help him settle down at Spurs quickly, while he also is one that could be the present and future of Spurs as he is just 24 years of age.
