Real Madrid host Real Sociedad in La Liga on Saturday night, in a match which pits 2nd vs 5th in the league. Sociedad will jump ahead of Madrid if they beat them on Saturday, while Madrid could go top of the table if they beat Sociedad and Barcelona don’t get all three points in their game.
Zinedine Zidane’s side will be confident going into this game, having scored 10 goals in their last two games – 4-0 against Eibar, and 6-0 against Galatasaray.
Let’s take a look at the possible Real Madrid lineup for the game against Real Sociedad.
Team News
Lucas Vazquez is the latest Real Madrid player to join the treatment table having suffered a fracture on his toe. He joins the likes of Nacho, James Rodriguez and Marco Asensio on the sidelines.
Thibaut Courtois should start in goal for Real Madrid against Real Sociedad. Courtois played in Belgium’s 4-1 win over Russia.
Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane also played both games for their national teams, with Spain and France emerging victorious. The duo should start at the heart of the defence for Madrid on Saturday. Ferland Mendy started and impressed for Madrid against Eibar and he should retain his place at left-back, while Dani Carvajal starts at right-back in the Real Madrid lineup.
Toni Kroos did not start against Eibar, but he should start against Real Sociedad having scored twice and registered an assist against Belarus, and had a good game against Northern Ireland.
He should join Casemiro and Federico Valverde in midfield, with Luka Modric making way. We could see Modric return to the starting lineup for Madrid’s mid-week tie against PSG in the Champions League.
Isco is another option for Zidane in midfield.
Rodrygo has been in spectacular form and he should start on the right, returning to the team after missing out against Eibar. It will be interesting to see what sort of reception Gareth Bale gets if he plays any part tonight after his controversial celebration with Wales.
Karim Benzema should start as the striker, refreshed after a break due to not playing during the international break, while Eden Hazard will start on the left.
