Big Change In Midfield | 4-2-3-1 Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs Sheffield United

Manchester United will face off against a resilient Sheffield United side on Sunday night, in a battle for a top 6 spot on the Premier League table.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned things around in recent weeks, losing just once in their last 7 games in all competitions.

The Red Devils secured a comfortable win against Brighton ahead of the international break, taking them up to 7th on the league table. They face fifth-placed Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, which will be a difficult test for them as Chris Wilder’s side have been impressive so far this season.

Manchester United Team News

United could have a whole host of players available before the Christmas period. Luke Shaw, Axel Tuanzebe and Nemanja Matic are training with the first-team, while Eric Bailly, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Diogo Dalot have also returned to training, although they are training away from the senior group.

Paul Pogba has been ruled out for this weekend’s game and indeed looks to be out for the year, while Scott McTominay will also be absent after sustaining an injury during the game against Brighton. Ashley Young returns to the team after serving a one-game suspension.

Let’s take a look at the possible Manchester United starting lineup for the game against Sheffield United:

Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs Sheffield United

Goalkeeper

David de Gea did not play either of Spain’s games over the international break. He will be fresh and raring to go for the game against Sheffield United and should start between the sticks.

Defence

Harry Maguire started and played the entire 90 minutes for both of England’s games, while Victor Lindelof played one game for Sweden. The duo should be the centre-half pairing in the Manchester United lineup.

Ashley Young missed the last game due to suspension, which resulted in youngster Brandon Williams starting, who made a good impression. But Solskjaer may turn to his experienced defender and play Young at left-back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka starting at right-back.

Midfield

Scott McTominay’s injury means that Andreas Pereira will start in midfield alongside Fred. Solskjaer may not want to start Nemanja Matic, who has been out for a few weeks, with his last game for United coming back in the first week of October.

We could perhaps see Juan Mata or Jesse Lingard playing in the No. 10 role, while youngster James Garner is an outside pick to start in midfield.

Attack

Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have been in good form over the last few weeks and they should start upfront and on the left, respectively.

Daniel James helped Wales to win both their games and qualify for Euro 2020. He should feature on the right and complete the Manchester United lineup.
