Arsenal Linked With RB Salzburg Midfield Ace: But Is He The Right Option For Emery?

Arsenal have reportedly found a potential replacement for midfielder Granit Xhaka in RB Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai. The Hungarian midfielder turned 19 last month and is one of the most promising players in Europe at the moment.

As per Football Insider, via Sun, the ripe adult is seen as an able replacement for Xhaka and the London club could make a move for him in the January transfer window. The report reveals that the Gunners tried to sign Szoboszlai in the summer transfer window, but could not conclude a deal. The player has also attracted interest from Inter Milan and Juventus.

The midfielder has scored 4 times and registered 4 assists in the 16 games that he has appeared in this season for RB Salzburg. He joined Salzburg from their feeder club Liefering in 2017 and has made 37 appearances, scoring 9 goals and assisting 10 times. His contract with the club expires in 2022, with the player having signed an extension earlier this year.

Szoboszlai is also a Hungary international, having debuted in 2019.

Dominik Szoboszlai: The right fit for the club?

It seems that Granit Xhaka’s days at Arsenal are numbered, following his very public feud with the Arsenal fans. The Gunners need a midfielder to replace him, which could happen in the January transfer window. Dominik Szoboszlai is an exciting midfielder who can play as a central midfielder or out wide as a left-sided midfielder.

The youngster is a hard-working player who likes to go up and down the pitch, while also stringing passes together in midfield. He likes to dribble with the ball and carry the game further up the pitch, while also trying the killer pass to release teammates in front of him. The Gunners have Mattéo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira as options in central midfield apart from Xhaka, while on-loan player Dani Ceballos is yet another option.

Szoboszlai could be a good signing for the Gunners as he is a player who has a lot of promise and has qualities that would fit in well in this Arsenal side.

While he might well be signed by Arsenal and he will come in handy in the future, the Gunners need a more experienced player who can also lead the midfield and dictate play around him. In Guendouzi, they already have a young, promising midfielder, and they should target an experienced player to replace Xhaka in midfield.
