Real Madrid Prepared To Bid €150m For Premier League Star: How Will He Fit In Under Zidane?

Real Madrid are still interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and could make a move for the French midfielder in January.

The Spanish club were interested in signing the World Cup winner in the summer transfer window, but could not complete a deal.

According to Ok Diario, Real Madrid could make a bid of €150 million for Pogba in the January window, and an additional €25 million in variables.

The report further states that Madrid and Zinedine Zidane want Pogba, the French midfielder is interested in a move to the Spanish club, while Manchester United are aware that Pogba doesn’t want to renew his current deal at the club.

The 26-year-old’s current contract with the club expires in 2021, with the five-year deal that he signed when he joined from Juventus coming to an end.

Pogba and Zidane were spotted having a discussion in the Middle East when the Manchester United player was rehabilitating his injury. Pogba has made just 6 appearances for United this season as he has missed several games due to injury, and is expected to be out till December.

How will Pogba fit in under Zidane?

The Spanish side have underperformed in the last year or so as the current squad, a majority of whom were a part of the multiple Champions League-winning teams, is coming to the end of a cycle.

Madrid need to add some freshness to their squad with quality young players to replace the ageing one, and Pogba could be a great addition to the Spanish side.

Toni Kroos and Casemiro have been in decent form lately, but the same cannot be said of Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, who has struggled in the last year or so.

The 34-year-old is probably past his best and Madrid need a replacement for him, which could very well be Pogba.

The Frenchman is an attacking threat and has good passing range, although he cannot be compared with the veteran Croatian. Pogba is a strong and powerful player who can be a threat on the counter attack, and can also drive his team forward, creating something out of nothing.

If he does sign for Madrid, Pogba will most likely take Modric’s position in the team under Zidane.
