Manchester United to offer £130million for English duo: Can they propel the club to top 4?

Recent reports have claimed that Manchester United were interested in signing Leicester City’s James Maddison, but it seems that the English side are also keen on signing his teammate, Ben Chilwell.

Maddison and Chilwell have been key figures in the Foxes’ good form over the last few months, and have attracted interest from top teams.

As per The Sun, United could make a combined bid of £130 million for both young English stars. The report further states that both players were scouted recently by Manchester United, when Leicester played against Liverpool and Tottenham.

The two youngsters will be a few of the many players that Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign in the coming transfer windows.

Chilwell was recently linked with a move to Chelsea, with the Blues manager Frank Lampard a big fan of the 22-year-old. Meanwhile, Maddison has had a great start to his season, scoring twice and assisting twice in 7 Premier League appearances.

United have to stave off interest from Tottenham to sign the former Norwich City player.

Can Chilwell and Maddison help Manchester United get back in the top 4?

Manchester United have had a dreadful start to the 2019-20 Premier League season, registering just 2 wins in 8 games this season, and languishing in 12th, with 9 points on the board after 8 games.

It seems that Solskjaer may have a huge transfer budget for the January transfer window, and he will most likely sign a few players to strengthen the side.

United’s interest in Maddison seems like a good decision as the 22-year-old has shown creativity, composure, and loads of determination in midfield for Leicester this season. The Englishman is bound to get better, and will be a big upgrade on the current creative midfielders that Solskjaer has in his squad.

Chilwell, on the other hand, is a talented full-back, who has grown as a player in the last two seasons, and is a confident player at left-back.

The Foxes left-back has great energy, determination, and can contribute to both attack and defence. He will most certainly be a good upgrade on United’s first-choice left-back Luke Shaw, who has struggled with injuries.

While it is too early to say if these two signings can take United to the top 4 once again, they will also need a goal-scoring striker, and perhaps a wide player to climb up the table, and finish in a respectable position this season.

I really like what you guys tend to be up too. This kind of clever work and reporting view!
