Wolves got their first win of the season in the League Cup on Wednesday night when they defeated Reading on penalties after the match ended 1-1.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will want to take that winning form to their next Premier League match when they face Watford, who are at the bottom of the league table.
Wolves are in desperate need of a win as they are second from bottom, just two points above Watford, and could go bottom if they lose to the Hornets.
Let’s take a look at the possible lineup that Santo may play against Watford:
Goalkeeper
John Ruddy played in goal in place of Rui Patricio in the League Cup, but the Portuguese will return between the sticks for the game on Saturday.
Defence
Santo has chopped and changed at the back this season, with several central defenders get a chance to impress. Romain Saïss was sent off in the last Premier League game and sat out the League Cup game, but Santo may drop him for the Watford game.
Captain Conor Coady play in central defence and we could see Willy Boly and Jesús Vallejo join him at the back, although Ryan Bennett is another option after impressing in the League Cup win.
Matt Doherty played the entire game against Reading, but he will return at right wing-back, while Jonny will play on the other side after he was given a breather.
Midfield
Ruben Neves did not start last week’s Premier League game, but captained Wolves on Wednesday, playing the entire game. Neves could sit out the game against Watford if Santo plays three attackers like he did against Crystal Palace.
This would mean that João Moutinho will start alongside Leander Dendoncker in central midfield.
Attack
Watford suffered an embarrassing 8-0 defeat to Manchester City last weekend, and Santo should strike when the iron is hot by playing three attackers up front.
Adama Traoré was impressive against Palace, and he could play on the right, while Diogo Jota, who scored a late equaliser last weekend, will start on the left.
Raúl Jiménez might continue as the striker, despite Patrick Cutrone’s encouraging form.
