Aston Villa travel to north London to face Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday night, and the newly-promoted side would look to bring back at least a point from their trip as they are currently fourth from bottom in the league. Villa have won one and drawn one, while losing three games in their opening five matches of the Premier League season.
Their opponents, Arsenal, let a two-goal lead slip when they faced Watford last weekend, something that the Villains will keep in their mind.
Tom Heaton will start in goal for Aston Villa on Sunday. The former Burnley keeper has played all five games this season, averaging 2.2 saves per game.
Tyrone Mings faced off against his own team-mate Anwar El Ghazi during Villa’s match against West Ham United this past week and the fans will hope there is no repeat this season. The English defender will retain his place in the team despite that incident and will start alongside Björn Engels.
At right-back, Frédéric Guilbert is set to continue in the Aston Villa lineup, while Neil Taylor will likely start at left-back as Matthew Targett is still not fully fit.
Marvelous Nakamba made his Premier League debut against the Hammers, playing deep in midfield for the Villans. He had a decent game for his new club, but could maybe be replaced by Douglas Luiz in the Aston Villa lineup.
Ahead of Luiz, John McGinn and Jack Grealish – who both had decent games against West Ham United, will be the key driving force of the team.
McGinn could have added to his one goal this season against West Ham but had a goal chalked off last time due to a foul in the build-up.
New signing Wesley hasn’t had the best of starts for Villa, as he has scored just one goal in five appearances for the Premier League side. He will retain his place in his side, though, as Jonathan Kodija is not yet ready following his injury on the opening day.
Trezeguet returns after serving his one-game ban and he could replace El Ghazi in the team, while Jota will continue on the right.
