Barcelona registered a fantastic 5-2 win against Valencia over the weekend in La Liga and will now turn their attention towards Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
The two sides face off against each other in Germany on Tuesday in a Group F clash.
Lionel Messi may be fit and travel with the squad to Germany, according to AS, after returning to training along with Ousmane Dembélé, but the latter did not complete the training session.
Let’s take a look at the possible lineup that manager Ernesto Valverde could put out against Valencia.
German keeper Marc-André ter Stegen will start in goal for Barcelona against Dortmund.
The defence will be led by Gerard Piqué, who will play alongside Clément Lenglet in the heart of the defence. The duo have started in defence for the Catalans in the first four La Liga games and Pique got on the scoresheet against Valencia.
Nélson Semedo will continue at right-back, while experienced left-back Jordi Alba will hold his position in the team as well in the left-back position.
The trio of Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, Arthur started in midfield against Valencia in La Liga, and Valverde could continue with the three central midfielders for the trip to Germany.
De Jong scored his first goal for the Catalan giants against Valencia, while also registering an assist, while Arthur also provided for Luis Suarez’s first goal. Sergi Roberto could maybe get an opportunity, but it’s a slim chance. that he’ll make the Barcelona lineup
In attack, Barcelona seem to have quite a few options at the moment. 16-year-old Ansu Fati was once again impressive for the club, scoring his second goal while also registering an assist.
Luis Suarez came off the bench to score a brace against Valencia, while Antoine Griezmann has scored two and assisted two in four games for the club.
Lionel Messi could return to the squad but it’s unlikely that he will be thrown into the Barcelona lineup. Fati could maybe drop to the bench for the game against Dortmund with Griezmann moving to the left, Suarez through the middle and Carlos Perez on the right.
