Manchester United target valued at £90m: Should Woodward splash the cash?

Manchester United are reportedly keen on adding highly-rated midfielder Kai Havertz to their team next summer. The Red Devils are one of many clubs interested in signing the 20-year-old, who currently plays for German side Bayer Leverkusen, where he has come through the ranks.

According to Daily Express, United, along with Premier League sides Chelsea and Arsenal, are interested in the midfielder, while German side Borussia Dortmund are also in the running to sign him. But, Bayern Munich are understood to be the frontrunners in this long list of suitors, who has continually impressed since making his debut in 2016.

The report states that the German club are demanding £90 million for Havertz. The German international is reportedly happy at the club but recently revealed that he will re-evaluate his future in the summer.

Havertz has played over 100 times for the German club, despite being just 20 years of age, and has scored 30 goals, with 20 of them coming in the 2018-19 season.

Should Manchester United make a move for Kai Havertz?

Havertz is a versatile and smart midfielder who can play in multiple positions and is an intelligent player in possession. The youngster is primarily a midfielder but also plays as an attacking midfielder, while he is also capable of playing as a right-winger.

The 20-year-old is a tall player who is quick with or without the ball and can cover ground very quickly. Havertz is a prolific goalscorer from midfield, having scored 20 times last season, and has got off to a good start this year as well, scoring twice in seven games in all competitions.

The midfielder uses the ball smartly when in possession, retaining the ball as well as possessing the ability to put in vital through passes to the attackers. Apart from scoring 20 times, he also registered 6 assists in all competitions in the 2018-19 season. His passing was also impressive, with the player averaging 52.6 passes per game and a pass percentage of 87.2%.

Manchester United should certainly make a move for Havertz as they have very few quality options in the middle of the park. The German can add energy, pace, and goals from midfield, while his vision in picking out his teammates also makes him a good buy.
