Boufal To Replace Injured Star: 4-2-2-2 Predicted Southampton Lineup vs Sheffield United

Southampton return to Premier League action when they take on Sheffield United on Saturday, and they will be confident of picking up a good result against the Blades after getting an impressive draw against Manchester United before the international break.

Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side are currently 14th in the Premier League table with one win, one draw and two losses in their four games so far, while their opponents are 10th in the table with five points.

Southampton Team News

The Saints have a few injury concerns; defender Kevin Danso will be suspended after receiving a red card against the Red Devils, while Nathan Redmond has an ankle injury, and Moussa Djenepo has a muscle injury that might keep him out.

Let’s take a look at the possible lineup that Ralph Hasenhüttl could put out on Saturday:

Predicted Southampton Lineup vs Sheffield United

Goalkeeper

Angus Gunn will start in goal for the Saints, as he has done so in the first four Premier League games this season.

Defence

Jannik Vestergaard and Jan Bednarek had a good game against Manchester United last time around, with the former scoring the equalising goal for the Saints. The two will continue in the heart of defence for Southampton.

Danso was given a red card last time around and he will miss the game against Sheffield United. Ryan Bertrand, who missed the last two Premier League games due to injury, will return to the side at left-back.

At right-back, Cedric could continue for the Saints, after playing the last two games against Manchester United and Fulham.

Midfield

We could see an unchanged central midfield pairing of Oriol Romeu and Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg in the middle of the park. Ahead of them, James Ward-Prowse will continue on the right hand side, while on the other side.

Sofiane Boufal could start once again, following the injuries to Redmond and new signing Djenepo. Redmond is set to be out for a few weeks, while Djenepo could return after his muscle injury, but maybe on the bench for Saturday’s game.

Attack

New signing Che Adams is yet to open his account for this new club, but Hasenhüttl could persist with the 23-year-old, who scored 22 goals in the Championship last season.

Danny Ings will start beside him in the Southampton lineup, and will be the player who will try to make things happen with his energy and work-rate.
