Southampton keeping close tabs on highly-rated English attacker: Good choice for Hasenhuttl

Southampton are keeping close tabs on Queens Park Rangers’ blossoming young gun Eberechi Eze, it has been claimed.

Eze was monitored last week by Southampton’s Director of Football Operations Ross Wilson, according to The Sun, with the club apparently readying a list of potential targets for the next couple of transfer windows.

Wilson was spotted in the crowd during QPR’s 1-3 defeat at the hands of Swansea City at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium to take notes of Eze who started the game.

During the summer transfer window, Southampton beefed up their attacking arsenal considerably by signing Danny Ings, Che Adams and Moussa Djenepo.

Despite that, Southampton remain keen to add some more fresh faces to their ranks and Eze would be affordable as well as a domestic signing for them.

However, it will not be an easy affair for the Saints to make him sign on the dotted line as Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to be interested in him.

Why Eze will be a shrewd signing

Having spent time in the youth ranks of Arsenal, Fulham, and Millwall, Eze was signed by QPR in 2016 after which he had a loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers during the 2017-18 season.

By operating as an attacking midfielder, he has grown a knack to find the back of the net and to create chances for his teammates and his potential enabled him to get into the senior side of QPR.

Eze has already bagged a couple of goals and an assist in the English second tier so far this campaign, also carving 1.8 key passes per game on an average.

The English prodigy has been one of the shining lights in the Championship this season and the Hoops are growing increasingly reliant on him.

Blessed with pace and excellent dribbling skills, he has risen in confidence in recent weeks and his link-up play with his fellow attackers has also caught the eye.

The 21-year-old has a strong physique which will be an added bonus in dealing with the rigours of the Premier League.

Hasenhuttl has not shied away from giving opportunities to deserving youngsters and Southampton’s renowned track record for grooming players is well known to all.

This will be a tempting move for the player, even though he is in the early stages of his career and he can well bring on board something new for the promising Saints.
