Aston Villa and Stoke facing competition from abroad for PL winner: Where should he move?

Burnley goalkeeper Joe Hart is wanted by Portuguese giants FC Porto, it has been claimed.

Porto are looking for a replacement for Iker Casillas in goal as the Spaniard has been offered a coaching role as he continues his recovery, it has been claimed by A Bola.

Casillas, who had won two Euros and one World Cup as the skipper of the Spanish national side, suffered a heart attack a couple of months ago.

Despite not being at the peak of his form in recent times, Hart has no dearth of admirers as a host of English clubs including, Aston Villa and Stoke City, are also keen to sign him.

What would be the best move for Hart?

Pep Guardiola’s arrival meant Hart was no longer the first choice as the Englishman didn’t have the necessary distribution that the Spaniard demands from his ‘keepers.

He was sent out on loan to Torino and West Ham United, but he was far from convincing. Last summer, the Clarets signed him, but he wasn’t able to resurrect his career.

The English international has fallen behind in the pecking order at Burnley as Nick Pope and Tom Heaton have been preferred over him by Sean Dyche.

He is reportedly seeking a move away from Turf Moor, and out of all the teams ready to make him sign on the dotted line, a move to Porto will make a lot of sense.

Aston Villa already have three decent goalkeepers, in Lovre Kalinic, Orjan Nyland and Jed Steer, and Dean Smith has made good use of them.

Stoke City, on the other hand, have Jack Butland, who is a top ‘keeper and will most likely remain in goal even if the Potters sign Hart.

Although Butland has been linked with a move away from bet365 Stadium this summer, the Potters have slapped a sizeable price tag on his collar to fend off interest.

Hart needs to be in a team where he will get to play regularly, which will enable him to regain his confidence and resurrect his career

Apart from Vana Alves, Porto have no other senior goalkeepers, and if Hart moves to Estadio do Dragao, he is expected to get regular playing time and could fill in Casillas’ boots.
