Manchester United target not ruling out a move: Why the Red Devils should pounce

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller, who is attracting interest from Manchester United, has revealed that he is open to new ‘opportunities’.

The former France under-21 international seemed rather cool about his future, joking around with the media after a training session.

“I’ve heard many things about my future, but nothing new happened, I’m here and happy,” Haller was quoted as saying by German magazine Kicker.

“That cannot mean anything and everything, I have said before that life is about opportunities.

“And even if there was an offer, only the club and I would know.”

Manchester United had an inconsistent season last time, and with Romelu Lukaku linked with an exit, they might dip their toes in the transfer market and sign another forward.

The striker, who still has two years left on his Frankfurt contract, managed 20 goals and 12 assists in 41 matches across all competitions last season.

Should Manchester United move in for Sebastien Haller?

Haller has had a good spell with Frankfurt after joining the club in the summer of 2017 from Utrecht, and has scored 33 times in 77 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit.

With a 6ft 2in stature, Haller can hold up the ball and possesses an excellent ability to link up play, something that has synced in well with Eintracht Frankfurt coach Adi Hütter’s tactics at the club.

Haller’s tall frame also allows him to have an advantage over opponents when it comes to aerial duels. He won an average of 6.6 aerial duels per game last season.

The 24-year-old’s isn’t just a one-dimensional forward, and can drop deep or find a teammate in a better position. The former Utrecht man managed an average of 1.3 key passes per game last season.

However, Haller, who will turn 25 later in the month, has to improve in certain areas in order to take his game to the next level. His passing has been a major let down, as he managed a pass accuracy of just 64.8%, something that needs to improve as he can’t lose the ball too frequently against teams who like to break in the Premier League.

Lukaku had a substandard season with the Manchester club and has found it difficult to adapt to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tactics.

With speculation looming large around the Belgian striker, the addition of Haller to the United could bring a breath of fresh air in the dressing room at Old Trafford.

The Frenchman has scored goals consistently in the last few seasons, is entering his prime years as a footballer, so the Red Devils should make a move for him.
