Arsenal will face French outfit Lyon tomorrow in the Emirates Cup as they continue their pre-season preparations.
The Gunners have recorded wins against Colorado Rapids, Bayern Munich, and Fiorentina, but were beaten by Real Madrid on penalties in the International Champions Cup final last Wednesday.
Unai Emery’s side have looked very positive in preseason so far, and the Spaniard will be hoping that his side can carry the good work into the tie against Lyon.
Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding are still in the process of recovery from their long-term injuries, while Emile Smith Rowe and Konstantinos Mavropanos are also unavailable.
Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Alex Iwobi, and Mohamed Elneny are yet to return to action as they have been given an extended break following their international commitments earlier this summer.
Shkodran Mustafi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles missed the match against Real Madrid due to slight muscular issues, and might not be rushed back into action.
Elsewhere, Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac are expected to be available despite facing a harrowing incident in London a few days ago.
New signing Dani Ceballos, who has joined on a season-long loan from Real Madrid, might get the chance to feature.
Goalkeeper
Bernd Leno is Arsenal’s first-choice custodian and the German shot-stopper is expected to get the nod to start between the sticks.
Defence
Calum Chambers and Sokratis could feature together in the central defence. They work well together and their resilience will be tested by the Ligue 1 giants.
Meanwhile, Carl Jenkinson might get the green light to start at right-back, while Nacho Monreal is likely to start on the left.
Midfield
Granit Xhaka and Joe Willock are likely to start in the midfield. Willock has been really interesting to watch in the pre-season outings, and might get opportunities in the league next season.
A lot will depend upon how Mesut Ozil fares in the upcoming campaign and the former German international might start as the central attacking midfielder on Sunday.
Attack
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan could start on the wide areas to inject creativity, spark, and stretch the play.
Upfront, former Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette should take his place. The Frenchman has been a handy asset for Emery, and he will be aiming to make his presence felt against Sylvinho’s troops.
