Aston Villa linked with a transfer for 18-goal attacking ace: What will he add to the team?

Aston Villa have spent the most money of the three clubs that have been promoted to the Premier League, signing 6 first-team players, which has cost the club over €75 million.

The Villans’ spending does not seem like it will stop anytime soon as they have now been linked with a move for Liverpool attacker Harry Wilson, who impressed for Derby County – the side Villa beat in the Championship play-off final.

Liverpool could be willing to let go of the 22-year-old on loan once again, and Villa are the bookmakers’ favourites to sign the youngster, as per Birmingham Mail.

Several clubs, including Bournemouth, Wolves, and Brighton are reportedly interested in adding the Welshman to their squad.

Wilson’s current deal with the Merseyside club expires only in 2023 as the 22-year-old signed a new deal with the club only last year.

The winger was a constant fixture in Frank Lampard’s Derby County side last year, featuring in 49 games for the club, scoring 18 goals and assisting 6 times in the process.

What will Harry Wilson add to Aston Villa?

Wilson has shown great versatility despite his young age, as he is capable of playing in multiple positions – out wide on both wings, or behind the striker as an attacking midfielder, or even as a central midfielder, pulling the strings in the middle of the park.

The young Welshman clearly has the talent and temperament to make it big in the game, as well as the technique to become a very good Premier League player.

Wilson has the vision to create chances for his teammates, and his through passes in the final third particularly caught the eye last season.

The 22-year old is a goal threat, which was evident from last season as he mustered 18 goals. His shooting technique is something that often baffles goalkeepers, and that particular trait of his has been compared to compatriot Garth Bale.

Villa have already signed Jota and Anwar El Ghazi, both of whom can play on either wing, while 20-year-old Andre Green is another option.

Adding Wilson would not only add competition for places in the Aston Villa side, but also take the quality of the squad up by a few notches.
