Arsenal superstar wanted on a loan move: Should Emery give the green light?

Turkish giants Fenerbahce are apparently keen to prise Mesut Ozil away from the Emirates Stadium this summer, it has been claimed.

Fenerbahce are interested to strike an ambitious loan deal with Arsenal to sign Ozil, according to The Sun.

Ozil currently pockets a staggering £350,000-a-week in wages at Arsenal and interestingly, Fenerbahce are hopeful that the Gunners will pay a part of his wages.

Arsenal failed to pave their way into the Champions League owing to their shambolic run of form during the business end of the previous campaign.

They finished fifth in the Premier League and succumbed at the hands of Chelsea in the Europa League final and therefore, they are having to operate on a tight budget this summer.

It has been reported that Unai Emery has merely £45million to invest to strengthen his squad and he needs to strike a few players off his books to raise funds and make room for new acquisitions.

Should Arsenal sanction his exit?

Back in the summer of 2013 when he was signed from Real Madrid for a whopping transfer fee of £42.4million, many believed that was a turning point for Arsenal as far as their ambition is concerned.

His entry into the ranks of Arsenal will unarguably remain as one of the best moments for the club as he was undoubtedly a valuable asset in the game then and the English giants certainly made a statement.

There is no denying that he lived up to his price tag with the creative prowess he offered especially under the tutelage of Arsenal’s former manager Arsene Wenger.

The former German international had signed a new deal with the north London based outfit last year but has struggled to make his presence felt since, with last season being his most underwhelming in an Arsenal shirt.

He made 24 league appearances and managed to muster merely 5 goals and 2 assists. On many occasions, he looked bereft of confidence and drew a lot of criticism.

Unai Emery’s tactics involve applying heavy pressure, enthusiasm on and off the ball and high work rate from the players and Ozil failed to be up to the mark in any of those.

Apart from showing flashes of brilliance, the 30-year-old went missing in the majority of the games with his outings against big clubs far from satisfactory.

He has failed to show the spark needed from a senior player to rally the troops especially when the going got tough and from what transpired last season, it is easy to decipher that he is not a central figure in Emery’s setup.

Further, his performances have hardly justified his wages. By allowing him to leave, Arsenal will be able to start afresh with another season of Europa League giving Emery a chance to work on combinations and try out promising players already available to him.
