Arsenal join the race for young Juventus attacking ace: Is this a wise move by Emery?

Juventus centre-forward Moise Kean is being eyed by Arsenal, according to reports.

Arsenal have contacted Kean’s agent Mino Raiola over the striker’s potential move to the Emirates Stadium this summer, it has been claimed by the Daily Mail.

Notably, the Italian giants are set to extend his contract until 2024 before letting him leave the Allianz Stadium. Further, they are also aiming to insert a buy-back clause.

The report claims that Juventus are ready to offload him for €35million but the agreement would include a buy-back fee of €40million that would come into effect in two years.

Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Everton are also believed to be in the race to sign him and it is understood that the Toffees are ready to accept Juventus’ demands.

However, Unai Emery’s camp is unwilling to include the buy-back clause and are ready to roll out €40million to prise him out of the ranks of the Old Lady.

Is Kean worth the fuss?

Kean is one of the hottest properties in the game at the moment. Despite being a 19-year-old, he has showcased a lot of calibre upfront and is a lethal poacher inside the box.

Capable of operating from the central role in attack or starting on the wide areas on the left, he has a stunning burst of pace with his powerful runs a trademark of his playing style.

The Italian international plundered 6 goals in the Serie A last season in 13 appearances and could become a star in the coming seasons if he continues on the right trajectory.

Do Arsenal really need him?

There is no doubt that Kean is a huge talent but Emery has two lethal goal scorers in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette on his books.

Besides, Eddie Nketiah has shown a lot of promise in the pre-season fixtures in the United States and he is likely to make a breakthrough into the senior side next season.

Gabriel Martinelli has been Arsenal’s only signing this summer and Emery understandably doesn’t have a whole lot of cash to splash around.

The Spaniard has a number of areas to strengthen and spending a major chunk of his transfer kitty on a position which is already sorted would not make a lot of sense.

While Laurent Koscielny is likely to make an exit, Shkodran Mustafi has been far from convincing and filling up the gaping holes in the Arsenal backline should be Emery’s prime concern.
