3 reasons why this World Cup star would do well at Real Madrid – Opinion

After a difficult season, Real Madrid have caused quite a stir in the transfer window so far, and have confirmed the arrivals of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Rodrygo, and Ferland Mendy.

Despite signing several fresh faces, Los Blancos don’t seem like they will stop anytime soon.

The capital club have been linked with Paul Pogba, as they plan to sign a long-term successor for Luka Modric.

Let’s look at the three reasons that the French midfielder would do well at the Bernabeu of the club do sign him.

Versatility

Pogba is a versatile player who primarily features as a central midfielder, and can also ease in both defensive and attacking midfield roles on the pitch under the manager’s plans and tactics.

This could allow Zidane, who usually sets up his side in a 4-3-3 formation, to be more flexible with his approach while putting out his team.

The World Cup winner is also good with both feet, and possesses the physicality and the technical skill to change the course of the game in an instant.

Defensive and Offensive Contribution

The French midfielder often mixes caution with aggression, and he showed that in his national team colours, helping France to their second World Cup last year.

His ability to maraud forward or control the tempo of the game from midfield would help Real Madrid change gear or possibly shutout teams by keeping the ball.

Pogba managed 1.5 dribbles, 5 long balls and 2.5 shots per game while recording 16 goals and 11 assists under his name across all competitions for Manchester United last season.

The 26-year-old also averaged 1.3 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, and 1.1 clearances per game on an average, showing his defensive nous.

Huge Potential and the Zidane factor

The former Juventus man is in high demand, and is priced at around €150 million by his current employers.

Zidane’s pragmatic style isn’t too different from Didier Deschamps’ under whom France lifted the World Cup, so Pogba could thrive under Zizou.

Real Madrid have added a lot of firepower to their team this summer, and someone like Pogba could be the final piece of the jigsaw in midfield.
