Twitter reacts as Manchester United close in on Welsh sensation

Manchester United are on the verge of completing their first transfer of the summer in Swansea City winger Daniel James.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first signing could cost the club in the range of £15m to £18m (including add-ons).

The Welsh International, who had just one-year left on his Swansea contract, has had his medical with Manchester United, according to the Sun.

Solskjaer earlier highlighted the club’s plan to avoid splashing big money on marquee signings, and signing James looks seems like a move in a new direction. The youngster should add more freshness to the team as United plan to rebuild after a nightmare 2018/19 campaign.

The Wales International made the jump to the senior side just last summer, and impressed everyone with his performances in the Championship. The 21-year-old managed 5 goals and 10 assists in 38 appearances in his debut season across all competitions.

Leeds United came close to signing the winger on a loan on the deadline day in January, but the deal eventually fell through.

The 21-year old is a versatile player who predominantly features on the left wing, but can switch flanks with ease in case the manager demands any such of him. His flexibility in the final third could be vital to Solskjaer’s plans, who we saw has altered his style of play depending on the opposition and the personnel available.

James excels in a lot of things – from his passing range to his dribbling to his ability to keep the ball. His pace is another thing which is likely to trouble defences, and he can be used as an impact player early on in his career as he gets used to the Premier League.
