Everton want to sign Juventus forward Moise Kean on a loan deal, it has been reported.
The Toffees have approached Juventus, and while a loan move for Kean looks more realistic, a transfer deal for the Italian also remains on the cards, according to a report from the Gianluca DiMarzio.
This could be Marcel Brands’ — Everton’s director of football — best signing, as Kean showed plenty of promise for Juventus last season, and could go on to become a future star.
The 19-year-old striker plundered 7 goals in 17 appearances for the Old Lady in all competitions.
Kean burst on to the scene earlier in the 2018/19 season, and managed a goal every 90 minutes, leading the Serie A’s goal per minutes list, though he started in just five games.
For a 19-year old, it’s quite an achievement as the list included heavyweight names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Fabio Quagliarella (Serie A golden boot winner), Krzysztof Piatek, Dries Mertens and many others.
Kean was also handed his Italy debut, and he managed to score twice for the Azzurri in as many games in the qualifying phase of Euro 2020.
At Everton, the likes of Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin haven’t been up to the mark in terms of their goal-scoring, although the latter did have a good season if we overlook his goals scored column.
Kean could provide that incisiveness in front of goal. The 19-year old always looks to get a shot on target, and averaged 1.6 shots per game last season. His pace, strength, movement and finishing in the final third could prove to be a major difference for Everton next season.
The 19-year-old’s passing ability, spatial awareness and reading of the game are on the rise. He managed an average of 78.9 pass success which is far more than what Calvert-Lewin (61.7) and Tosun (70.4) mustered last season.
With quality players in Richarlison, Lucas Digne, and Gylfi Sigurdsson around him, the Kean could wreak havoc on the opposition goal and be the player Everton have missed since Romelu Lukaku’s departure to Manchester United a couple of years ago.
A loan move, if it materialises before the start of the next season, sounds like a win-win situation for everyone involved.
