Burnley are eyeing a move for Brentford striker Neal Maupay, it has been reported.
The Clarets are preparing a bid of £15 million to acquire the services of Maupay, it has been claimed by the Daily Mail.
Furthermore, Aston Villa, Sevilla, and Sheffield United are also keen as they look to strengthen their team following their return to the Premier League.
Maupay has been consistently good for Brentford, and it is likely that Burnley will have to fork out a bit of cash for the forward.
The 22-year old is valued at £20 million by Brentford, and it will be interesting to see which club has the last laugh.
The 2018-19 season was a rather disappointing one for the Clarets as they finished 15th in the Premier League table, and need to add more quality to their squad to aim higher next season.
Maupay emerged through the youth ranks of French outfit Nice and was eventually promoted to their senior side. A move to St. Etienne followed and in the summer of 2017, he was lured to the Griffin Park.
The 22-year-old striker dazzled in the Championship last season as he plundered 25 goals and 8 assists in 43 league games.
Maupay has represented the French youth teams at various levels, and if he continues his progress, it won’t be long before he gets a senior cap with the World Champions.
Burnley struggled to find the back of the net last season, and the inconsistency their attackers showed is something Dyche needs to look at this summer.
Although Maupay lacks Premier League experience, he is worth the gamble as he has shown he has what it takes to succeed in the top flight.
The Frenchman is a clinical goal scorer and one of his most striking characteristics is his ability to hold the ball in the attacking areas.
Maupay knows exactly where the goal is, and has a blistering burst of pace to leave defenders behind.
Considering Burnley play on the break, his pace would add a lot more potency to the Clarets’ attack as the duo of Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes aren’t the quickest of customers. His good hold up play means he can be used as a target-man as well.
The 22-year old still has a lot of time on his side and is an exciting player, so Burnley should fork out the cash to sign him.
