Aston Villa eyeing a transfer for goal-scoring midfielder: A smart move in the offing

Aston Villa secured promotion to the Premier League after winning the Championship play-off finals, and are now keen on adding a few players to their squad.

They have already added a few players, and have now put Blackburn Rovers attacking midfielder Bradley Dack on their radar, as per Daily Mail.

The report states that Villa, as well as Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion, are keen on adding the 25-year-old, who had a fine season for Rovers in the Championship.

Dack scored 18 goals in all competitions, out of which 15 came in the Championship, while he also made 10 assists for the club.

Transfermarkt rate Dack at around €7 million, and he may be available for a little more than that price in the summer.

The Englishman has two years on his contract which expires in 2021, having signed for Blackburn Rovers in 2017. Dack was signed from Gillingham for £750,000, having come through the ranks at Gillingham, playing over 180 appearances for the club.

At Blackburn, Dack has made 90 appearances for the club since signing for the club, scoring 36 goals for the club in both seasons combined. He was a part of the Blackburn team that secured promotion from League 1 to the Championship in 2018.

Bradley Dack to Aston Villa would be a smart move by the club

Dack is primarily an attacking midfielder who likes to control the play from midfield while contributing heavily with goals and assists. He managed 15 goals and seven assists in the Championship last season – impressive numbers for an attacking midfielder.

The 25-year-old is a good dribbler of the ball and often drives forward into the opposition’s penalty area.

He is also a good passer of the ball who has good vision to pick out forward runs made by his teammates, putting in through balls and passes.

The English attacking midfielder has good technique and touch to control the ball while in the final third, as well as strong finishing. Dack is also tenacious, has the energy and drive to press the opposition, while making good movement when his team are in possession of the ball.

While he may not be the first-choice attacking midfielder for Villa, if he does sign for the club, following the signing of Spanish attacking midfielder Jota, he could be a useful squad player for manager Dean Smith.
