Tottenham Hotspur eyeing £80m raid on Bournemouth: Exciting choices by Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to raid the Bournemouth camp for striker Callum Wilson and midfielder David Brooks.

According to The Sun, Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino has put the Cherries duo on his wish list for the upcoming transfer window. The Lilywhites are preparing a humongous £80m bid for the pair with a £40m price set aside for each of them.

The pair managed 37 goal contributions between them with Wilson and Brooks netting the ball on 15 and 7 occasions respectively across all competitions.

Everton are also keen on signing Callum Wilson and could prove to be a nuisance in Spurs’ attempt at this rare transfer coup.

Bournemouth duo under Mauricio Pochettino: A fearful trio

Spurs, who haven’t spent a single dime in last two transfer windows, have reached the Champions League final and their chairman Danial Levy is expected to loosen his purse strings as they look to increase their squad depth this summer. WIth an injury-stricken depleted squad, this season’s achievement looks more and more prestigious, with a lot of the credit going to their manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine generally deploys a 4-2-3-1 formation with a double pivot acting as a shield for the back four and the front four along with fullbacks sharing the attacking responsibilities on the pitch. The addition of Callum Wilson and David Brooks can further solidify the Spurs front four as they look to challenge on all fronts in the upcoming season.

Callum Wilson can act as the perfect backup for Harry Kane and can even provide an option for a front two to Pochettino. The likes of Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente have failed to impress and are likely to make their respective exits in the coming weeks. The English striker is a key figure in Bournemouth’s attack and has a knack for intelligent positioning and finishing in the box. The 27-year-old’s key passes, through balls and his effectiveness on the counter-attack, makes him one of the biggest threats in the final third and his numbers tell a similar story.

David Brooks seems a slightly riskier yet an exciting choice by the London club. The Welshman is only 21 and exhibits admirable confidence and intelligence in his style of play. Brooks is a versatile youngster who features as an attacking midfielder but can fill in on either wing with ease.

The Cherries midfielder can become the understudy to Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, two players of a similar craft with the latter being linked to a move away from the Lilywhites to Santiago Bernabeu.

Brooks possesses the ability to bypass opposition defences with his through balls and is a lethal finisher in front of goal. The 21-year-old with his plethora of pace remains a bigger risk on the counter-attack and is exactly the kind of player Spurs need in the final third.

The Argentine manager has a history of developing young talents into world class stars and the Bournemouth pair could be the next names on the list.
