Forget Neymar – Why Real Madrid should go all out for this Premier League star

Real Madrid had a disastrous 2018/19 season, and went through three managerial changes as Zinedine Zidane was eventually re-appointed in March, 8 months after he left the club.

The French manager has decided to revamp the squad in order to bring back the glory days at Santiago Bernabeu.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Real Madrid will have to pay Neymar a whopping  £1.2m per week to lure him to the Bernabeu.

The Brazilian’s future in Paris remains far from secure, and Madrid want to bring the 27-year-old to the capital.

Like Neymar, another player who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid is Eden Hazard.

The Belgian has hinted his desire to move to Santiago Bernabeu, as per Telegraph, but considering both Neymar and Hazard play in the same position, it’s up to the club to decide for whom they should break the bank.

Eden Hazard a better option than Neymar

Neymar and Hazard are perhaps the closest who come to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of stature and ability. One of them is likely to end up at Real Madrid, and Hazard does seem like the better option.

While the two are almost equal in stature in world football, both have very different styles.

The Brazilian is certainly a better individual player and a goal-scorer, but Hazard stands above Neymar when it comes to link up play. The Belgian plays to the strengths of his teammates and is an unselfish player. Meanwhile, the Paris Saint-Germain star remains hungry for the spotlight, which has backfired so far.

The two have a totally different personality both on and off the pitch, and that’s another area where Hazard surpasses the Brazilian.

The 28-year-old Chelsea star is also more versatile than Neymar, as he has shown throughout his career. Hazard has featured as a number 10, can play on either wing, a false 9 role, and has thrived in each and every system under different managers, be it at the club or the international level.

The Brazilian is also flexible in his approach, but lacks the discipline to thrive in multiple positions.

Additionally, Hazard is a far cheaper option than Neymar who went for a record $222m a few years ago, and would cost ridiculous sums of money in wages which could upset the wage-bill of even heavyweights like Real Madrid.

From where we stand right now, Hazard seems like a far better choice than Neymar. Lest we forget, Neymar also featured for Barcelona, that’s never a good thing.
