Hazard and Pedro shine: Chelsea player ratings vs Watford

Chelsea secured an impressive 3-0 win against Watford to guarantee a top-four finish ahead of Manchester United and Arsenal.

An improved second-half performance from Blues helped them collect all three points against an unlucky Watford side, who started the game really well.

Here are the Chelsea player ratings:

Kepa Arrizabalaga (7.5/10): Made a fantastic save to deny Troy Deeney from scoring the opener during the early stages of the game. Had to do very little afterwards as Watford struggled to get a shot on goal.

Cesar Azpilicueta (7.5/10): Some diligent defending from Azpilicueta to restrict Roberto Pereyra from making any inroads into the final third. Had a couple of worrying moments against Deulofeu, however.

Andreas Christensen (7.5/10): Struggled to cope with Deeney’s physical and aerial presence but offered some good defensive support in the second-half.

David Luiz (8.5/10): Had a nervy start to the game before he started to impose his authority, especially in the second half. The Brazilian delivered a few excellent cross-field passes and most importantly, produced a thumping header to double Chelsea’s lead in the 50th minute.

Marcos Alonso (7.5/10): A promising display from the Spaniard, who was fairly solid in dealing with Will Hughes on the left-flank.

N’Golo Kante (N.A): Sustained a hamstring injury early on, which forced him out of the game.

Jorginho (8.5/10): An excellent all-round display from the Italian, who showed great anticipation and perseverance to control the Chelsea midfield, despite the absence of Kante. Also delivered a couple of delightful passes in behind the backline.

Mateo Kovacic (6/10): Struggled to impose his authority in midfield, largely due to Watford’s high press.  Did, however, ease Chelsea’s transition, somewhat.

Pedro (9/10): One of the liveliest players on the pitch, Pedro amassed a host of shots on target while his combination play with Eden Hazard was also delightful. He was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet despite producing the assist for the third goal.

Gonzalo Higuain (7.5/10): It was a quiet game for Higuain before he showed an excellent bit of finishing to score the third goal.

Eden Hazard (10/10): By far the most impressive player on the pitch, Hazard terrorised the Watford defenders with his mazy runs across the final third. He also linked up well with the likes of Jorginho and Pedro while producing two assists.

Substitutes

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (8.5/10): Offered the physicality in midfield, which was crucial in Chelsea’s dominance over Watford in the second half. Muscled Nathaniel Chalobah to score the opener shortly after the restart.

Olivier Giroud (NA): Missed the best opportunity of the game shortly after replacing Higuain in the 79th minute.

Gary Cahill (NA): Waved goodbye to his loyal fans in what was his final home game at Stamford Bridge as a Chelsea player.
