Predicted Tottenham Hotspur Lineup vs Southampton: Dele Alli Might Return

Tottenham Hotspur will look to end their bad run in the Premier League when they take on Southampton on Saturday.

The north Londoners have dropped points in their last three league games, and had to rely on a late Hugo Lloris penalty save against Arsenal to avoid three defeats on the trot.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are ten points behind Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title race, and need to strengthen their grip on third place as Manchester United are breathing down their neck.

Tottenham did pick up a morale-boosting win against Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16 of the Champions League to seal their place in the quarter-finals, and will hope to kick on.

Dele Alli is back in contention and is in line to make an appearance. Whether he starts or not will be up to Pochettino.

The manager also cast doubt on Harry Winks and Kieran Trippier’s possible involvement in the game.

Predicted Tottenham Hotspur Lineup vs Southampton

Defence

Southampton line up with a three-man defence, so we expect Pochettino to continue with the three 3-4-1-2 formation.

The trio of Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez, and Toby Alderweireld might line up at the back once again.

Sanchez had a decent game against Borussia Dortmund after a shocking performance against Arsenal in the league last time, and he’ll want to redeem himself in the league.

Midfield

Serge Aurier started against Dortmund, and is in line to feature against Southampton as in Trippier’s possible absence. Danny Rose came off the bench against the Bundesliga side, and should start as the left wing-back

In Winks’s absence, Eric Dier might accompany Moussa Sissoko in central midfield, and the former will be tasked to protect the defence.

Christian Eriksen should once again retain his place as the number 10, and the Dane will look to test a leaky Southampton defence with his passing.

Attack

Harry Kane and Heung-min Son should be the preferred choice up top. Kane looks like he was never away, and has found the back of the net in three of his last four games after returning from his injury in late February.

Son, meanwhile, has been a bit quiet in front of goal after finding the back of the net four times in as many games. The South Korean will hope to end his four-game barren run in all competitions.
