Liverpool will host Burnley on Sunday, and will want to reduce the four-point gap between them and Manchester City at the top of the table.
The Reds had a tricky game against Burnley when the two sides met at Turf Moor, and the Clarets are expected to push the hosts at Anfield as they have had a much better second half of the season.
Sean Dyche’s side have, however, lost their last two games in the Premier League, and are still in the relegation dog fight.
Burnley are two points ahead of Cardiff City, and despite their eight-game unbeaten run that started from late December and came to an end in February, they need to dig deep and find results.
Liverpool have a good head to head record against Burnley, and have won three of the last four meetings between the two sides in the Premier League, so they will be confident of making home advantage count and keep the heat on Manchester City.
The Reds might be without James Milner who has a muscle issue. The trio of Dejan Lovren, Joe Gomez, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain aren’t that far from competing for a first-team place.
For Burnley, Steven Defour underwent surgery on his calf injury, and won’t be available for selection. Jonathan Walters and Aaron Lennon are also on the sidelines.
Predicted Liverpool Lineup: Alisson, Robertson, Van Dijk, Matip, Alexander-Arnold, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Keita, Mane, Firmino, Salah
Predicted Burnley Lineup: Heaton, Taylor, Mee, Tarkowski, Bardsley, McNeil, Cork, Westwood, Hendrick, Barnes, Wood
Mohamed Salah’s form matters in the last couple of months, and the Reds need him at his best if they are to push Manchester City all the way for the league title. The Egyptian might not find it easy against Burnley, however, as Dyche’s side might play their usual low-block and frustrate the hosts.
For the away side, keep an eye out on Chris Wood who might have the support of Ashley Barnes up top. Together, the duo might cause Van Dijk and Matip a few problems as the forwards are capable of winning aerial duels.
After Manchester City’s win, the pressure will be on Liverpool and from what we’ve seen from recent weeks, they haven’t handled it well.
The hosts should have enough quality for Burnley, though, and we predicted a 2-1 win.
