Real Madrid superstar on Liverpool radar: Why he’d be a top signing for the Reds

Real Madrid might be in for a summer overhaul and it has been claimed that attacking midfielder Isco is on Liverpool’s radar.

Los Blancos have had a poor season so far as they were knocked out of the Copa Del Rey by Barcelona, and are 12 points the Blaugrana in the Spanish Primera Liga.

Real Madrid were also knocked out of the Champions League by Ajax on Tuesday, and with many of the players underperforming, there might be some changes in the summer.

According to Tuttosport several players might leave the club, with Liverpool being linked with a move for Isco.

Why Isco would be a smashing addition to Liverpool

Though Isco has struggled for consistency and form this season, the Spaniard was touted as a possible replacement for Iniesta in a few years ago when his impressive performances for Malaga earned him a move to Real Madrid.

In the last couple of seasons, the 26-year old managed to provide goals from midfield that helped Real Madrid keep up with Barcelona in the league. His influence in the team wasn’t as obvious though, as Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal-scoring prowess took all the plaudits.

Isco has managed just five starts in the league this season as the departure of Julen Lopetegui, who wanted to base the team around Isco, has contributed to the Spaniard’s drop in form.

He has been in and out of the team under Santiago Solari, but hasn’t been that bad when he has played. His performances in the Champions League were better than his league displays, as he managed two key passes a game, and played a key role for the side.

If Isco were to move to Liverpool, it’s likely he’ll be deployed in an attacking midfield role. Though most of his goals and assists have come from the left side of midfield, considering Sadio Mane’s presence, Isco might be used in a playmaking role, which he is pretty good at as well.

Because Isco is so gifted technically and has the eye for a pass, his presence would help Liverpool against teams who play deeper. The Reds have been involved in three 0-0 draws in their last four games in all competitions, and those were the games where Isco might have played a big role.

At 26, the attacker is yet to hit his peak years, so if Liverpool can get their hands on the Spaniard, they’d be getting a top player to help them build on what they’ll eventually achieve this season. With Naby Keita already in the squad, the quality and depth would increase as well.
