Why Wolves should do everything to sign this £30m rated star permanently

Wolves haven’t scored too many goals this season, but Raul Jimenez has been one of the players who has dazzled so far.

Following their promotion to the Premier League from the Championship, Wolves have been a delight to watch under the tutelage of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Having picked up 40 points from 28 league games, they are currently eighth in the league standings. Wolves are also in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, and are due to face Manchester United next month.

Jimenez was signed on loan in the summer from Portuguese outfit Benfica, and has gone on to score 10 goals and provide five assists in the Premier League so far.

The Mexican international has been a key cog in Wolves so far, and club captain Conor Coady has come forward and urged the club’s hierarchy to sign Jimenez on a permanent deal.

Coady is right and Wolves should do everything to keep Jimenez

Benfica have a capable attack themselves, and might not need the services of Jimenez. Reportedly, the Portuguese giants are ready to offload him and want Wolves to cough up £30m for his services.

Wolves’ owners have made some shrewd investments in recent times, having secured the permanent signing of Jonny Castro from Atletico Madrid. A similar move for Jimenez would make a lot of sense.

The Mexican international excels in link-up play and can hold the ball well in the final third. He is good in the air and his strong physical presence makes him a handy asset during the set-pieces.

While his finishing can improve, Jimenez often brings his teammates into play with his ability to hold the ball. Another one of his strengths is his impressive defensive contribution.

Jimenez’s tenacity has helped Wolves in the defensive side of the game, and that has reflected on the table as they have conceded fewer goals than Manchester United and Arsenal.

Espirito Santo has relied heavily on Jimenez and the player has fared well under his guidance.

The Mexican is acclimatised to the set-up at Wolves and his permanent move to the Molineux Stadium is likely to help the side push on even higher next season, so the club should back the manager with the £30m needed to sign Jimenez.
