After a narrow defeat against Tottenham, Newcastle United will hope to bounce back when they take on Wolves.
Newcastle are just two points clear of the relegation zone and need to make the most of their upcoming fixtures after a difficult run-in during the last few weeks.
With some of the key players set to return soon for the Magpies, Rafa Benitez will hope his side are more consistent on the pitch in the coming weeks.
Despite the late defeat against Tottenham last weekend, Newcastle showed plenty of promise but things just didn’t fall in place as they did against Manchester City.
A clash against Wolves won’t be easy as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are unbeaten in five games in all competitions.
Miguel Almiron has been handed his work permit, which means he’ll be able to feature against Wolves. However, don’t expect him to start as Benitez is more likely to ease him into the team.
Antonio Barreca came off the bench against Spurs, and is in line to start come Monday. It remains to be seen whether Jonjo Shelvey and Mohamed Diame make it in time for the game.
Defence
Florian Lejeune, Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Schar are set to start once again at the heart of the defence. Antonio Barreca and DeAndre Yedlin might feature as the full-backs.
Marin Dubravka keeps his place in goal.
Midfield
Should Barreca start, Matt Ritchie might feature in his favoured role on the wide areas. Almiron is expected to be slowly integrated into the attacking midfield role, but Ritchie might feature on the left wing.
Sean Longstaff and Isaac Hayden should continue to feature in central midfield as it’s unlikely Shelvey and Diame will make the first-team immediately even if they are passed fit.
Ayoze Perez’s pace and ability to take on players will be important on the right wing, but his decision making does need to improve.
Attack
Salomon Rondon should continue to lead the line for the Magpies and he’ll be in for a tough night as the likes of Willy Boly and Conor Coady aren’t the easiest to compete against.
