Manchester United plotting massive bid for English sensation: A risky move in the offing

Manchester United are considering making a summer move for Jadon Sancho, according to Metro.

The Borussia Dortmund starlet has emerged as one of the most promising young players in Europe this season and a big money move could be on the horizon next summer, with Manchester United already plotting a move for the English whizkid.

Jadon Sancho: Ideal player under Solskjaer?

Even though Manchester United have embraced an attacking brand of football under new coach Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer, the Red Devils are still in need of reinforcements in the attacking department next summer.

Alexis Sanchez’s campaign has been ravaged by injuries while the likes of Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata have struggled to make themselves a regular fixture under the manager. Lingard has a bright future ahead of him but Mata, at 30 years of age, might not be an option the club will turn to in need.

Sancho, in that regard, could resolve their attacking problems, thanks to a wide range of skillset that could make him an ideal fit under the Norwegian mastermind.

For one, the Dortmund star is blessed with sheer pace, which, coupled with a wide range of tricks up his sleeve, often gives him the upper hand when it comes to beating a defender. He has attempted a league-high 83 dribbles with an astonishing success rate of 63%. And this willingness to take on defenders is something which will give the Red Devils an added edge.

Sancho’s quick feet and trickery could definitely add more dynamism to the United attack but what makes him such an appealing target for the Red Devils is his ability to find through balls in and around the 18-yard box. Sancho has averaged 1.8 key passes per game this season – which is more than any other Manchester United player.

Jadon can be utilized across the final third, where his ability to combine with fullbacks as well as fellow attackers could revamp United’s attacking game. Furthermore, he can also inject some pace into the United attack – making them much more effective on the counter.

However, considering his age, a big money move might come a bit too soon for the 18-year-old, who may not be able to cope with United’s soaring expectations and most importantly, integrate himself into the fast-paced nature of Premier League football despite his previous exposure on English soil.

The added pressure of being a former Manchester City player along with the nature of his exit will also be integrated into the narrative if the move materialises. Sancho has shown his confidence and his willingness to take risks at such an early stage in his career but any move for him by United will be accompanied by its own share of misgivings and unfair amount of scrutiny right now.
