Liverpool Will Have to Break Transfer Record for Wing-Wizard: A Top Target

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted the club kept an eye on Jadon Sancho, but couldn’t sign him while he was at Manchester City.

Sancho signed for Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2017, and has gone on to become one of the best young players in world football.

According to the Mirror, Liverpool might renew their interest in Sancho, but will have to pay something in the range £100 million, a fee Barcelona paid for Ousmane Dembele, another talented former Dortmund attacker.

Jadon Sancho: A top target, but can Liverpool afford him?

Following a positive first half of the campaign, Liverpool have been a bit shaky in the second half of the season which has seen Manchester City move above them in the Premier League table.

While Mohamed Salah has continued his excellent form in the English top flight, the likes of Roberto Firmino and even Sadio Mane have appeared slightly inconsistent. And with Xherdan Shaqiri being the only reliable alternative, Liverpool could certainly use some attacking reinforcements in the summer.

Jadon Sancho, in that regard, is a stunning choice for the Reds for a number of reasons.

The Borussia Dortmund, as mentioned earlier, has emerged as one of Bundesliga’s rising stars this season, having been involved in as many as 21 goals in just 30 games in all competition.

The 18-year-old can add more dynamism into the Liverpool attack, with his mazy runs on the flanks along with his clever movement.

Indeed, Sancho has a box of tricks up his sleeves that allow him to drift past opposition defenders. As a matter of fact, the youngster has averaged over 3 dribbles per game this season, which is more than any other player in the Bundesliga this season (1,000 minutes or more).

But, Sancho’s game is not only restricted to dribbling as the 18-year-old is blessed with a raw pace that makes him a real threat on the counter.

There already have been many instances where the pace of Sancho has led to Dortmund scoring on counter-attacks, and we could expect more of the same at Liverpool, who are deadly on the break.

Additionally, Sancho has phenomenal control and composure on the ball, allowing him to keep hold of the ball even under pressure.

But, if we consider the nature of Liverpool’s transfer activity in the market, it’s rather unlikely that the Reds will want to break their transfer record for Sancho.
