3 reasons why Manchester United should sign this AS Roma superstar

Manchester United have enjoyed an impressive run of form following the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Norwegian failing to win only two of his 13 games in all competitions so far.

However, the defence has still remained one of their weaknesses and thus, we expect the Red Devils to invest in a new central defender in the summer.

Two names linked with a move to Old Trafford are Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Roma’s Kostas Manolas.

While both the defenders boast an equally impressive CV, we will discuss three reasons why Manchester United should opt for Manolas.

#3 Manolas is tactically versatile

Manolas has enjoyed immense success during his time with Roma, and one of the key reasons behind his success has been versatility from a tactical perspective.

The Greek international has been utilised as a ball playing defender, as he has the ability to bring the ball out from the back even with attackers applying the high-press.

Manolas’ extensive qualities in passing out from the back, breaking up the play as well as marking players in set-piece situations arguably makes him a better fit at United when compared to Koulibaly.

#2 An agile defender who can recover the ball

One of the reasons why Manolas is wanted player in European football is his pace, something that gives him the edge over Koulibaly.

Indeed, the 27-year-old is blessed with good pace that allows him to recover if he isn’t in his natural position, and also helps him against inverted wingers who tend to change direction quickly.

Manolas isn’t shy to move up the field in order to press the opposition, denying them of any time on the ball. This tunes in well with the attacking game Manchester United have embraced under Solskjaer this season.

#1 A cheaper alternative to Koulibaly

What makes Manolas such an appealing target for United is his affordable price-tag as the Roma star reportedly has a release clause of just €36 million.

This makes him a much cheaper alternative when compared to Koulibaly, who could cost more than €100 million.

The Greek defender also has the same agent as Manchester United star Paul Pogba in Mino Raiola. This could certainly help the Red Devils in terms of contract negotiations and speed up the overall process.

But the man could have a child until 65, she often sleeps in the guest bedroom because her husband read
