Breaking: Liverpool Set To Bid For Dutch Wonderkid

According to a report on Daily Mail, Liverpool are among the clubs interested in the services of Club Brugge star Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld.

The young forward has impressed in the Eredivisie as well as in the Champions League this season, thus attracting widespread interest from top clubs across Europe, including the Reds.

Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld: is he worth the fuss?

Groeneveld initially showcased his talent in the Dutch second tier before moving to Club Brugge in the summer for a fee of just €1 million. Since then, he has been in top form, scoring four goals in 11 matches while mustering three assists.

However, it was his performance against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League group stage, which earned its fair share of praise as he scored Brugge’s only goal of the game in a 3-1 defeat at Wanda Metropolitano.

As far as his gameplay is concerned, Groeneveld is labelled as a pacy winger, who normally plays on the left side of the pitch. He can utilize his pace quite well, with a sudden burst of pace often getting the better of defenders while he also has a box of trickery up his sleeves, which often becomes useful when probing the opposition defence.

Much like Ousmane Dembele, the 21-year-old likes to run in at defences and cause problems in and around the penalty area. But, what makes him such an effective attacker is his physicality as he’s often quite difficult to be shrugged off the ball despite boating a rather lean figure.

Therefore, Groeneveld certainly seems like an appealing target for Liverpool, who can be used as Sadio Mane’s understudy and with the Reds lacking depth in the attacking department, his addition would also provide Jurgen Klopp with more options in the final third.

But at the same time, Groeneveld is a still relatively unknown name in the footballing universe, who is destined to struggle in the Premier League, considering his lack of experience in the highest level of football.

The 21-year-old has made less than 50 top-flight appearances so far in his career and thus, transitioning to a faster-paced nature of English football could prove to be difficult for the Bruges star, who has also struggled with an ankle injury, of late.

Therefore, it would be wiser for Liverpool to shift their attention to a far more proven individual as they aim to bulk up their attacking options this month.
